this is week 3 of our 52 on friday project. last week’s black and white post for this project can be found here and our first week’s self portrait is here. most you of you probably know by now that me and a group of 19 other photographers have joined together to challenge each other on a theme every week.
this week’s theme is JOY. i thought, “jump for joy”!
okay, sorry to get personal and break some rules, but i couldn’t stop thinking about this picture when we were assigned JOY and how no other image has captured it more. about 3 months ago i was able to deliver my baby, tate, at home. i feel so much joy from this picture for many reasons: seeing my mom’s hands on one side and my husband’s on the other, relief, peace, gratitude, crazy, unexplainable love for this little babe i’ve been carrying for 9 months, and such pure JOY. when you are pregnant with another child… you never think you can love the next one as much as your first. of course, you realize very quickly that you are given a gift for a greater capacity to love. next week i promise not to get so personal and expand my subject matter to something other than those that dwell with me.

Oh Shannon.. I honestly shed a couple of tears on seeing #2. Being a fellow home birthing momma I totally GET that feeling and emotion. My chest is still tight writing this… Love, love, love! Thanks so much for sharing…
well first i was going to say how i LOVE your jumping images and then you plant the birth one on us and i have tears. beautiful beautiful. i have a similar photo of me holding my youngest just seconds after he was born. nothing replaces that feeling, ever. xoxo

Thank you so much for sharing these! LOVE them all! The last shot is exactly what I think a birth experience should be! Captured perfectly! Amazing!
I can not think of a pure representation of encompassing joy than bring a child into the world surround by love. Thank you for sharing.

Oh my goodness. I don’t even know what to say. I wish I had a picture like that last one. Such joy and love. That is a treasure! It epitomizes why we do what we do. Well done!
oh my gosh – that last photo got me teary – what an amazing moment – that’s what photography is all about!! perfect for this week’s theme.
I remember thinking how could I love another baby as much as I already love this little guys sitting in front of me. But you do!
Love is the only thing that can be multiplied and not diminish.
WOW, I am blown away by that second image. It’s amazing and literally gave me goosebumps. And, of course, the jumping for joy is too cute!
Love this! How wonderful that you got to do that, and I agree there is nothing more joyful then for your baby to be placed in your arms for the first time!
oh, how i wish i had a shot of me like that last one, incredible. i love all the jumping images, so fun!! awesome job!
I love the joyful trampoline shots. That last image. Wow. To have that moment captured so beautifully is a true gift.
I love all these images but the last one brings a tear to my eye.
These are all great but that last one…WOW! Perfection.
love your jump for joy images!! but that last one is priceless.
Aubry- I am speechless over that last photo. How envious I am of you to have such a treasure. My husband brought in the zoom lens into the very tiny OR so every picture was out of focus…. I am still not laughing about that day. You are a lucky dog!
Goosebumps all over…tears in my eyes. A moment to remember forever.
